5 Things That Inspired Me This Week 2/26/16

2016 Mini Photo Book Challenge

photobook challenge

I have joined A Beautiful Mess’ 2016 mini photo book challenge. How it works: print out 5 photos a month and compile them in a 4×4 photo album. That’s it! I’m excited to see the whole year come together and hope that this becomes a tradition.

Almond Butter Banana Smoothie

This smoothie is so good. If there are greens on hand I’ll throw a little of those in. And it’s tasty topped with cacao nibs — the first recipe I’ve found that they are not overpowering in.

  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons almond or peanut butter
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 teaspoons chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon cacao nibs

Blend milk, nut butter and banana until smooth. Spoon in chia seeds and mix. Let sit in fridge for about five minutes. Serve with cacao nibs on top.

Family + Friend Time

Thanks to Andy’s birthday earlier this month, we have made every excuse to celebrate!

One of those celebrations included a trip to explore Ferndale, going to the WAB and Imperial. Hanging out with this gang is always a blast! I’m looking forward to both my sister and cousin’s weddings this coming summer and fall up north.

SL love

Then we took a trip to our old stomping grounds and tried out Slow’s Barbq for the first time, then hit up our favorite brewery, Founders, and last on the docket was The B.O.B. for a comedy show and reminiscing our wedding. It’s been a very fun month!

Cloth Facial Rounds

facial rounds

On New Year’s Eve (during the MSU football game….oops #sorrynotsorry) I made an impromptu purchase on a sampler pack of unpaper towels, cloth wipes and facial rounds. I have been most surprised by the facial rounds. I generally do not take my make-up off and simply just wash my face. However, since I have switched back to regular mascara I have needed to take the extra step. I now rinse my face, use my face roller then use fractionated coconut oil on the facial round to remove anything that did not already come off. They are so soft and gentler than cotton rounds. They are also cute and eco-friendly!

ThredUP (Revisited)

I’ve talked about thredUP before, but my love for it is stronger than ever, so it deserves a repost! All clothes are in like-new condition and shipping is free for orders over $70. Anything can be sent back for credit, free in the same box. It’s so simple. I recently ordered 11 shirts and am keeping 8 of them (my outfit outside above — shirt and pants are from thredUP, jacket is a hand-me-down, and shoes are a $3 rummage sale purchase!). I love that I don’t have to go out and shop, can get things at a great price, and everything is practically new. The app usually offers a coupon code of an additional 10-20% off as well. I can order all the grey tops, striped tunics and jeggings that my heart desires! If you haven’t checked it out yet, start here with $10 off with this referral code. You won’t regret it!

Oh, and you can also send in your gently used clothing. If they don’t accept something, they will donate it..which is what I would do normally. Here is the huge pre-paid bag I sent in this week….
