5 Things That Inspired Me This Week 11/20/15
Each week I’ve been compiling a list of 5 things that inspired me to be healthier and happier throughout the previous week. This helps me think about what makes me stay motivated to feel my best. I also hope that sharing these ideas may help motivate you to try incorporating some of these ideas into your lives as well. Feel free to leave a comment and share your own weekly inspiration. I’d love to hear from you!
We’ve been on a salad kick around these parts lately. Bulk salads to have on hand throughout the week are currently a staple. Favorite toppings: hardboiled eggs, green onions, cucumber, bell pepper, feta or bleu cheese, and sesame seeds. For me: a balsamic vinegar, olive oil and dash of black pepper dressing. For him: a honey, dijon mustard and lemon dressing. Then, if we have chicken or salmon on hand we’ll add that on top. So good! If you’re not into salad, but want to sneak veggies in another way — try these other ideas!
What is oil pulling? Swishing about a tablespoon of coconut oil around in your mouth for 15 minutes — that’s it! I started oil pulling about a year ago and have to admit… it took a while for my stomach to not turn upside down. The oil will melt after a few seconds, so you just have to wait that out. This is beneficial for gum health and helps pull bacteria out of your mouth. Be sure to spit the oil in the trash, not the sink when you’re done or it will clog the drain. I oil pull off and on, but really do love when I do it regularly. My mouth feels cleaner, and it helps naturally whiten teeth. Sometimes I’ll add Thieves essential oil for an even cleaner feel. Give it a try — but also give it some time. You probably won’t like it at first and that is okay!
I love how many healthy options Costco offers, and that is always something new to discover each trip. Suja Juice is usually $3.50-$5 for 8 ounces…I found this 60 fluid ounce container for $8.99…AMAZING! Thank you, Costco, for keeping me healthy on the cheap(er).
This weekend marks two events that have been in the works for a while. A Euchre tournament (my first ever!), and a holiday gift make and take class. When I am creating something (and it is going well — and not frustrating), I am happiest. I am excited to raise money for a good cause, and share craftiness this weekend. Plus there may be a snow storm?? Exciting things happening around these parts.
Granola (Part 2)
Last week I mentioned that I made homemade granola as a snack. Well, this week I’ve been enjoying it everyday with almond milk as an afternoon snack. I rarely buy or make almond milk so this has been a treat! Another batch will be thrown together over the weekend with almond butter.
Now it’s your turn….what inspired you to be healthier and happier this week?
