5 Things That Inspired Me This Week 2/5/16

Each week I compile a list of 5 things that inspired me to be healthier and happier throughout the previous week. This helps me think about what makes me stay motivated to feel my best. I also hope that sharing these ideas may help motivate you to try incorporating some of these ideas into your lives as well. Feel free to leave a comment and share your own weekly inspiration. I’d love to hear from you!

While I loved in-home training and the personal aspect that it offered, I am so excited to be joining the personal training team at Vie! When you enter the downtown studio you walk into the boutique and juice bar. The spinning area is to the right, spa services to the back and the personal training floor in upstairs. I love how much Vie has to offer clients, and everything is paid for a-la carte. It’s definitely not your typical gym scene. The Arbor Hills location is the hub for all things pilates. If you’re in the Ann Arbor area, come check us out! And friends/family from farther away…I will be encouraging you to come visit too!

And just throwing this out there since the February Promos are awesome!

-Intro Tower Pilates- $35 for 3 classes. New clients (new to tower pilates). One per person. *Normally one class is $35…I highly recommend pilates for strengthening and lengthening muscles. The class flew by and I was a little sad it was over. I left feeling great!

-Intro Private Pilates- $70 for 2 private sessions. New clients (new to Pilates). One per person.

-Intro Personal Training-$70 for 2 personal training sessions. New clients (new to PT). One per person.

With the super cute Happy Mail I am now receiving and sending to others, I want to improve my writing. I ordered the Tombow Dual Brush Pens and have been really happy with them. I chose these over a dip pen so I’m more likely to pick them up each day and practice. I’m usually critical while I’m writing, but amazed at how beautiful it (sometimes, though not always) turns out when I look back the next day. New hobby win!

Dog Training at Positive Way

Riley Ashley Selfie

Today is our 3 month Rileyversary. Adopting a two-year-old rescue dog, let alone our first dog ever, definitely posed some challenges. We had a very tough week recently and just felt like she didn’t love us. Somehow people around us who have gotten to know Riley a bit were reading our minds. They knew the perfect things to say to reassure us that we are making great strides and she actually does want us to be her parents. The dog trainers helping us through are amazed each week with her progress. Her tail no longer being between her legs, she’ll eat food in class, excitedly approaching others, maintains great eye contact, etc. We discussed some of our challenges and I am so, so grateful for their positive encouragement, cheerleading, and knowledge they have of rescue dogs to know that she will eventually be the confident, loving dog we are hoping she will be. I cannot thank these women enough for their help through this process. And we have definitely felt more loved since that difficult week!

Daily Burn

I joined Daily Burn a few weeks ago using the free trial for full-length at-home no equipment workouts.  You choose your fitness level, time commitment, and whether you want a friend or drill sergeant trainer and they recommend a program for you. They recommended the 365 program for me, where they film a new workout live every morning at 9am with a variety of trainers. The workout is then available for 24 hours. I like the variety and that I don’t know what the week will entail. They also have pilates, kickboxing, dance, strength and yoga workouts on the site. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys working out at home.

Family Time at Valentine Distilling

Valentine Distilling

For Christmas, Andy and I gave his mom a gift certificate for happy hour at Valentine Distilling in Ferndale. She is known as the cocktail queen so it only seemed fitting. I had heard good things but have never been much of a fan of liquor. Let me tell you, the alcohol is so smooth you don’t know it’s in there. It was nice catching up over my first Moscow Mule!

Happy Super Bowl weekend!
